On April 17, 2025, the West Mamprusi Municipal Youth Parliament held the first sitting of its second session, a milestone in youth participation and civic engagement. Among the voices shaping the discussion was the Majority Chief Whip, who also serves as a team member of ASFIT Mr. Sumani Sahidle Kawuneni. He actively contributed to the motion of the day: “The Role of the Youth in Community Development“.
The Youth Members explored how young people can take a leading role in shaping their communities. As a result, the house resolved to initiate community-driven projects, particularly in select communities and senior high schools across the municipality. These efforts aim to enhance awareness, participation, and proactive youth engagement in local development.

In response to the house’s recommendations, the Municipal Assembly expressed strong support for the proposed initiatives. It reaffirmed its commitment to empowering youth and fostering sustainable community development. The Assembly also encouraged all youth parliamentarians to remain dedicated and active in their roles in recognition of the potential of youth leadership.
Through the Youth Interreligious Parliament, we are proud to support the West Mamprusi Municipal Youth Parliament to becoming a leading example in the North East region and Ghana as a whole.
