On 28th May, 2024, a National Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Technical Working Group was inaugurated in Accra at the UNFPA-Ghana Orange Loft by the Honourable Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif (MP) and the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Abani Charles.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the UNFPA Country Representative, Dr. Wilfred Ochan, the Executive Secretary of the Ghana National Peace Council, Dr. George Amoh, as well as representatives of development partners, UN agencies, GIZ-Ghana, the EU Delegation to Ghana, and civil society organizations. Among the members of the Technical Working Group is the Executive Director of African Students for Interfaith Tolerance (ASFIT).
The Technical Working Group was established to support Ghana’s efforts to develop a National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security, aimed at advancing the meaningful inclusion of young people in national peace and security processes and empowering them to actively contribute to sustainable peace and a more secure future for all.
