Ghana’s Civil Society Gathers to Rethink the Future of Development and Civic Action

From 25th to 26th June 2025, civil society organizations (CSOs), policymakers, private sector actors, and development stakeholders will gather in Accra for the Ghana Civil Society Forum 2025. Under the theme “Reimagining Development Financing and Civic Action – Challenges, Opportunities and the Way Forward,” the Forum builds on the success of the inaugural edition held two years ago, offering a critical platform for reflection, collaboration, and strategic action.

“As priorities shift—with cuts to aid budgets and a surge in arms spending—civil society organizations, particularly in the Global South, face increasing difficulty and an urgent need to pivot and adapt. While local philanthropy is on the table, an abrupt shift without supportive policies and enabling mechanisms will not yield the sustainable resources needed,” notes Issah Toha Shamsoo, Executive Director of ASFIT, on LinkedIn.

ASFIT, as a youth-led peacebuilding organization and a member of the CSO Sustainability Working Group, is honoured to participate in this year’s Forum. We will lend our voice, representing the energy, vision, and concerns of youth civil society, to discussions on civic engagement, sustainability, and local philanthropy.

As the development landscape evolves, the Forum offers a timely opportunity to ensure youth are not just included but are leading where it matters most.
