ASFIT convenes a town hall meeting in Nalerigu under bridging the gap project

African Students For Interfaith Tolerance, in partnership with the Ghana Center for Democratic Development and supported by the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund convened a town hall meeting of service providers (including Ghana Education Service, NIA, NHIA etc.) and community members including youth, PWDs, religious and traditional leaders in Nalerigu in the North East region of Ghana.
The town hall meeting brought together 30 diverse group of participants who discussed creative and solution-focused actions on enhancing the engagement of diverse groups, particularly minorities, in decision-making processes and improving access to public services, public trust, and strengthening social cohesion in local communities.
Community members had their questions and concerns addressed by the service providers. The service providers urged members of the general public to reach out with questions and that their services are open to all Ghanaians regardless of ones ethnicity, religion, or political background. It was also highlighted that there is the need for follow-up engagements and dialogues to clarify any misleading claims and strengthen trust between community members and the service providers.

This town hall meeting was made possible under ‘Bridging the Gap: Promoting Socio-Economic Inclusion, Social Cohesion, and Peacebuilding for Vulnerable Communities’ project which is implemented with the support of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund in partnership with CDD-Ghana, RISE-Ghana and CARO-Ghana.
